The third Iceland Writers Retreat will take place in Reykjavík, April 13-17, 2016, and registration opens on July 20, 2015. Spaces are limited.

Dr. Vincent Lam, Steven Galloway, Gerður Kristný, Cheryl Strayed (pictured), Miriam Toews, Adelle Waldman and four other featured authors in leading small-group writing workshops.

The retreat is also an opportunity to get to know Iceland’s rich literary culture. The agenda includes a full-day tour in the Icelandic countryside led by an Icelandic author.

Participants can choose between two tours. One is the ever-popular Golden Circle tour, with a literary twist. The other is a trip to the Borgarfjörður region in West Iceland, setting for many of the Icelandic sagas, including stops at the town of Borgarnes, Reykholt (cultural center and home of 13th-century chieftain and writer Snorri Sturluson), and several natural wonders.

Both tours will include a stop at Gljúfrasteinn, the former home of Nobel Prize winning author Halldór Laxness, with a reading by a local author.
