Reading for Cancer

ome walk for cancer, others run. But the hundreds of women who attended the Palais Royale on October 8th did something completely different as they participated in the "Read for the Cure" fundraiser. It was a lively event featuring three remarkable award-winning Canadian authors - Elizabeth Hay, Miriam Toews and Dr. Vincent Lam. The evening was emceed by Carolyn Weaver, producer and host of Fine Print, and inspired all in attendance with wit, humour and deep, probing thoughts in the accounts of the guest authors. The "Read for the Cure" is a non-profit volunteer group of Canadian women who raise funds for cancer research. It's a unique and fun opportunity to join with book club members and avid readers for a worthy cause. Over $21,000 was raised from this event.
